Renewable electricity generation

Renewable generation of clean local electricity and heat are a vital part of the SEPs ambition for the city. Solar farms have a role to play here as they will contribute to energy flexibility, security and resilience for the city.

Solar farms have the potential to provide clean green energy to the gird – but also to power homes, especially where people can’t install solar panels themselves.

Solar farms use light from the sun, making them a great alternative to fossil fuels which contribute to global warming.

Solar can live alongside people and communities and the SEP is committed to installing solar panels in the city. The Council House, Coombe Abbey visitors centre, War Memorial Park, Canley Crematorium, Central Library, Whitley Depot and Moat House Leisure Centre all have solar panels installed, generating their own power to lower future energy bills.
