The ShopMobility service is provided by Mobility Pathways on behalf of Coventry City Council.
It is a service that provides powered and un-powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters for people who have either permanent or temporary limited mobility; allowing them greater independence to use the pedestrianised shopping areas within Coventry city centre.
Mobility Pathways also operates a sales outlet for mobility and daily living aids. Only a small amount of stock is available for sale on the premises, however, items can be ordered for delivery. Information on the range of products available can be obtained from our staff.
- Membership is free of charge.
- The equipment is also free to use.
- We do have a donations box on-site and would appreciate a small donation each time you use the equipment if you can afford to do so.
How to register
Before using our mobility scooters and equipment for the first time, you will need to register with us as a member.
To do this you will need to provide at least three (3) forms of identification containing your name and current address. One of these must be a form of photo identification, e.g. your passport or driver’s licence. The other two can be a combination of a recent utility bill, an NHS letter, medical card, library card, V5 vehicle registration document or insurance certificate, etc. The address on each document provided must be the same.
Our on-site staff will give you instructions and show you how to use the equipment.
You will be asked to complete a form to confirm that you have read and understood the terms and conditions of use including the relevant safety information.
Please note
- Customers are strongly recommended to book equipment in advance to ensure that they are available when required.
- All electrical vehicles will be demonstrated by a member of staff until you feel confident to use it alone.
Location
The ShopMobility unit is located on the ground floor of Salt Lane Car Park, directly behind the Upper Precinct.
Parking
Disabled parking spaces are available in Salt Lane Car Park.
Car parking is free for Blue Badge holders. You must ensure that you correctly display your Disabled Parking Blue Badge and Clock Card in your vehicle whilst in the car park and provide the details to the intercom operator when asked to do so at the car park exit.
If the person using the ShopMobility service is the passenger in the car, the driver is respectfully asked to drop off their passenger(s) at ShopMobility before proceeding to a parking space in the car park.
