About Us â The Study Programme
Welcome to the Study Programme, an education and employability initiative delivered by Coventry City Council’s Adult Education Service. The programme is designed to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment catering to young people aged 16 to 18 (and 19-24 for those with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)). It is for learners who face barriers to traditional education, including those with neurodiverse needs, learning difficulties, and additional support requirements.
We work closely with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services, local schools, and referral partners to ensure that learners receive the right support tailored to their individual needs. Through a combination of academic learning, personal development, and real-world work experience, we equip learners with the skills and confidence to progress into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
What we offer
At the Study Programme, we provide:
â Accredited Qualifications – Learners can work towards recognised qualifications in subjects such as Maths, English, ICT, and Employability Skills, helping them build essential knowledge and qualifications for their next steps.
â Work Placement Opportunities – We partner with leading employers, including Amazon, University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UCHW), Coventry City Council, and smaller businesses and organisations offering bespoke placement opportunities. These experiences allow learners to develop real-world skills, gain confidence, and prepare for long-term employment.
â Specialist Support for Learners with Additional Needs – Our highly experienced staff are trained in supporting young people with anxiety, autism spectrum conditions, learning difficulties, and other neurodiverse needs. We take an individualised approach, ensuring that every learner receives the necessary guidance and accommodations to thrive.
â A Structured, Supportive Learning Environment – Many of our learners have struggled in mainstream education due to social anxiety, sensory needs, or difficulties with large class sizes. Our classes are small and carefully structured, creating a calm, welcoming environment where learners feel comfortable, engaged, and supported.
â Personal Growth & Independence Skills – Beyond academic learning, we focus on developing confidence, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and independent living skills—all of which are essential for personal and professional success.
Who we cater to
Our programme is designed for young people who:
âï¸ Are aged 16 to 18 (or up to 19 - 24 with an EHCP) and are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
âï¸ Have additional needs related to autism, ADHD, anxiety, or other learning difficulties.
âï¸ Need to improve their Maths and English qualifications to progress further.
âï¸ Would benefit from structured, practical learning and work experience.
âï¸ Require a supportive, small-group environment to help them build confidence and skills.
We work in close collaboration with SEND services to ensure that learners with EHCPs receive tailored support that aligns with the individual needs and goals on their plan.
