One Friargate

There are no individual offices – just the best use of floor space designed to bring people and teams together and encourage smarter working.

We share our building with the Financial Ombudsman Service, Homes England, Kagool and Coffee #1 – which is on the ground floor. They are on floors 3, 4 and 5. We work from floors 6 – 11.

Each team has its own zone and staff work from a different desk every day and get to know people. Even though you have a team zone, you don’t have to stay there. You can work from different locations and buildings to help you and your service work smarter.

Every chair can be altered to suit your needs. Staff are asked to keep a clear desk so other people can use the workspace too. There are personal lockers and team storage to clear everything away if you’re at a meeting that’s more than two hours long or you’re working elsewhere.

It’s ok to take a break from work. Each floor has a breakout area by the kitchen where you can eat, or you can visit the #Coffee 1 on the ground floor.

As well as toilets on all floors, there are showers and lockers in the basement – handy if you’re cycling to work or going for a lunchtime run.

The first floor has a wellbeing room and a multi-faith room. There are also four large conference rooms and three function rooms that can be converted into one area – ideal for holding big events.

Broadgate House

Our Children’s Service teams work from this building, working on floors 3 to 5.

Our Customer Services team is also situated in Broadgate House.

Council House

The Council House is the democratic centre of the Council, where Elected Members and civic functions are based. There are committee rooms and meeting rooms on the ground floor.

The first floor is used by Members and Members Services as office space.

The second floor and basement are used by other Council teams as office space and storage. There are also meeting spaces and breakout spaces available for staff.

Whitley Depot

The depot is the City Council’s main operational depot, including waste operation, street cleaning, grounds maintenance, fleet/workshops, passenger transport, repairs and maintenance, highways and drainage. The Council’s CCTV Communication Centre is also based here.

The office space with the depot administration building mirrors that of Broadgate House, the Council House and One Friargate.

Family Hubs

Coventry has pioneered the development and delivery of a Family Hub offer since 2018, and there are currently eight Family Hubs delivering services to children, young people and their families across the city.

The Family Hub model sees a number of different services based in one building, providing information and support to families, children and young people aged from 0-19, or to 24 where a young person has a disability. It involves Council services such as early help workers and targeted youth workers, along with partners such as health visitors, school nurses, police and the voluntary and community sector.
