#CovConnects have been working in partnership with Action Family Network to support young people and families in Coventry to feel digitally included in meaningful ways.
Action Family Network (AFN) is an integrated service that works with children and families to help families realise their full potential, providing culturally specific support services to families who are facing complex needs and challenges.
Before becoming a #CovConnects partner, AFN were no strangers to supporting Coventry residents to feel digitally included, as they offer free community support services including digital skills training for adults, online safety awareness training for young people and parents, financial literacy support classes and more.
Action Family Network also support young people to learn innovative digital skills such as podcasting, graphic design, app development and more as part of their Impact & Legacy Youth Leadership Program, where young people are encouraged to pursue their passions.
Receiving a number of digital devices from the #CovConnects Device Bank, AFN became a #CovConnects partner in March 2024, where the devices were gifted to residents to support them on their digital journeys. Residents told us that they have been using the laptops in different ways, from completing schoolwork and researching to browsing online together with family and more.
Martin Asamoah, Chief Executive Officer for Action Family Network, told us:
“As the CEO of Action Family Network, I am continually inspired by the dedication and commitment of organisations like #Covconnects, who recognise the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal access to technology for all members of our community.
The laptops donated by #Covconnects have had a significant impact on the lives of the individuals and families we support. These devices have enabled them to access educational resources, job opportunities, and vital online services. In today's digital world, having access to a laptop is no longer a luxury but a necessity, and #Covconnects has played a crucial role in making this possible for our community.
On behalf of the entire Action Family Network, I extend our sincerest appreciation to #Covconnects for their generosity and support. Your donation will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and working together to build a stronger and more digitally inclusive community.
Thank you once again for your invaluable contribution.”
Racheal, a resident who has been using a laptop gifted to Action Family Network by the #CovConnects Device Bank, said:
“We are most grateful for the laptop. My son and I are using the laptop to learn more. I have gained more knowledge in computer skills. Thank you so much.”
