#CovConnects have been working in partnership with Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire to support older adults in Coventry to access the digital world.

Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire (C&W) are a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers; they want everyone to be able to love later life.

Becoming a #CovConnects partner in January 2024, Age UK C&W received a number of tablet devices to support older adults living with dementia.

Thanks to Digital 1:1 Sessions at the Coventry Dementia Partnership Hub [https://www.coventry.gov.uk/coventry-dementia-partnership-hub-1/coventry-dementia-partnership-hub], residents are being supported to use a tablet in meaningful ways, including interacting with dementia friendly apps and social media, learning how to stay safe online and more.

When residents complete their digital inclusion course, they will be gifted a tablet to encourage them to stay connected and keep up with their digital skills.

Jade Tomlinson, Services Manager at Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire, told us:

‘The devices we have bought and sessions they have helped us to create are already making a difference for the clients that attend, with one lady saying after her first session, ‘I wish I had done this sooner!’

Funding for Age UK C&W’s project came via a grant from the #CovConnects West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Adaptive Fund which is part of the WMCA’s Connected Services Programme.
