How to get a copy of a death certificate
You will need to provide the following information:
- The name or names the certificate applies to
- The date of the event
- The place of the event
- Any other relevant information that may help us locate the certificate
Order a copy certificate
If you want a copy certificate for a death that was registered in Coventry you can apply online or by telephone. Certificates are usually produced within five working days.
Telephone applications need a card payment. Please have these details ready when telephoning the office. The certificate(s) will be sent off within five working days but you should allow at least ten working days for the return of a certificate by post.

Costs
The fee for a certificate is £12.50.
A Copy Certificate is a certified copy of the original entry in the register, signed by either the Registrar or Superintendent Registrar and as such is a legal document that can be used for official purposes.
All certificates take up to ten working days to be produced. These will then be sent by first class post.
Priority Service
We offer a priority service for an additional fee of £26. This fee will make sure certificates are ready within 24 hours. Certificates will be posted to you by first class post.
This service will ensure a 24-hour turnaround on certificates ordered before 12pm and excluding weekends and bank holidays.
