Cllr Jim O'Boyle: Hello, I’m Cllr Jim O’Boyle, I’m here with Cllr Patricia Hetherton, the Cabinet Member for City Services. We’re just here at the opening today of the new play area on Bull Yard. Patricia, it’s opened. Tell me all about this. This is good, isn’t it? Cllr Patricia Hetherton: It’s fantastic. The whole area has now completely changed. It’s wonderful, it’s outside The Wave. What we have is some lovely seating areas that are in the colour of the Cathedral stone. We’ve picked up the blue from the blue ribbon that Coventry is known for and the whole area, as you can see, the children are loving it. There’s a fountain that changes colour and changes its design and it’s absolutely beautiful. This is the first area of our city that is completed and we hope everybody likes it. Cllr O Boyle: Thank you Patricia. This is just one part of £44m of investment going in in our city as this very moment and there’s more to come. But we don’t just want the city centre to be for older people, we want it to be for everybody. That’s why the play area is here. Remember, not so long ago, this was dual carriageway. Look how different it is now. We want our city reclaimed for pedestrians, for visitors and tourists alike, and we’ve got Logan here today. Logan, what do you think of it? Is it good, bad, thumbs up? Thumbs up! There you go, from the kids themselves. They’re enjoying the play area today. Get the opportunity to come down. Me and Pat will be here as well. It will be great. Cllr Hetherton: Happy Christmas everybody! Cllr O'Boyle: Happy Christmas.
