Cllr O’Boyle - Hello I’m just here at the HMV Empire here in Hertford Street. Working really hard to get ready to be open very very soon. The reason why I’m here today, I’m here with phil Rooney the owner and proprietor. I’m here because phil has got a really really exciting announcement to make about HMV Empire. Phil do you want to reveal to us exactly what that announcement is?

Phil Rooney - Yes so on august the 25th in conjunction with hmv and their centenary anniversary celebrations we have Ed Sheeran playing the venue in Coventry on Wednesday august 25th which is a massive top selling artist in the world.

Cllr O’Boyle - And how big is this for hmv empire ed sheeran one of the best-selling artists you should say not just in this country but anywhere in the world

 Phil Rooney - It's just it's made of dreams isn't it. It's amazing that he's come to Coventry and even more amazing that he's coming to our brand-new venue in Hertford Street.

Cllr O’Boyle - well look I’ve I haven't heard news like this since I’ve been on the council. The reason why we took the decision to give the lease to Phil and reopen this magnificent building and turn it into one of the best musical places we've had in the city for many a long year was for announcements like this. Not since the days but perhaps the Beatles, the Stones and the Who playing in Coventry have we had the opportunity to have such an announcement of such an important act coming to coventry so Phil well done this is very exciting this is exactly what the hmv empire is going to be looking forward to and will be about over the next number of years
