What does St Mary's Guildhall mean to Coventry? - Video and audio transcripts

So welcome to Coventry’s great Saint Mary’s Guildhall. I'm privileged once again to be standing here in the finest medieval guildhall anywhere in England, a hall that has celebrated great kings and queens of the past. Coventry was the capital of England at one time, this was the court where the king would sit and see his subjects. Shakespeare has been in this great hall, this is a place that is amazing to us Coventrians and again I’m so privileged to be here. Here's the point though, this great hall is known to a few it needs to be known to everybody, I want people from all over the UK, all over the world to say when they visit the UK when they visit Coventry let us come to this great hall let us come to the guildhall and see what it's got to offer I no longer want it to be Coventry's best-kept secret I want it to be known to the world this is a place to visit.
