Coventry has an Advanced Midwife Practitioner and prescriber for Mental Health who lead a continuity team of two midwives specialising in perinatal mental health. Any women with previous diagnosis, or who develop mental health issues during pregnancy can be referred to our team for continuity of antenatal and postnatal care. This team have longer appointment times than other midwife teams and can see women more frequently. We also work with the perinatal mental health team, community mental health teams and health visiting team, as well as other secondary services such as Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) and voluntary peer support services, to support women accessing the correct care.
