- Brakes are a small training provider who specialise in ‘Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Basic Mechanical Skills and Knowledge’. Our teaching groups are small and staff/pupil ratio is high. Pupils form very good relationships with the staff and are very well supported both personally and in their learning. The site is small, so pupils find it easy to adjust to the environment and are more able to form relationships with the small number of staff. Brakes have worked particularly well with pupils in most need of support. The work is very practically based but pupils can study for an entry or level 1 course. Brakes provides young people with the skills and qualification to progress onto a motor vehicle apprenticeship or Further Education.

Brakes Training offer courses utilising Motor Vehicle skills to motivate learners to reengage with training, employment and education.
We are a flexible provider that can offer short tasters, 6 - 12 weeks accredited courses, 1 and 2 years accredited courses. Learners have the chance to develop personal social and employability skills whilst gaining experience in a ‘real’ working garage.
Learners are able to gain customer service skills alongside motor vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Functional Skills are embedded in the courses so learners understand the importance of numeracy and literacy. They will develop a problem solving approach to learning and see the relevance of education and how it leads to positive progression.
The course will cover:
Health and Safety in a working environment
All aspects of vehicle repairs
Braking systems
Servicing
Tyre repairs - Qualification (If Applicable)
