Coventry Outdoor Education Service aims to support students with complex trauma through tailored 1-to-1 outdoor education sessions. These sessions will focus on developing communication, engagement, and vestibular literacy, utilizing the therapeutic benefits of nature to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
Objectives
1. Enhance Communication Skills:
- Facilitate interactions that promote verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Use outdoor activities to encourage expression and sharing of thoughts and feelings.
2. Promote Engagement:
- Create engaging activities that capture students’ interests and motivate participation.
- Build trust and rapport through consistent, supportive interactions.
3. Develop Vestibular Literacy:
- Incorporate movement-based activities to improve balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.
- Use sensory experiences to enhance understanding of body movements and their effects on emotions.
