Bright Outcomes Ltd provides a unique, home-based alternative provision for young people unable to attend school due to EBSA, SEND, or Mental Health difficulties. We focus on academic progress, community inclusion, and employment preparation, with support from qualified teachers and experienced mentors to ensure each student’s progression. Our aim is to be the bridge back to education, not the final destination—equipping students with the academic skills, confidence, and independence they need to return to school and succeed.
This course is delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision.
Week 1: Introduction to Healthy Living
• Topics Covered: Defining healthy living: physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The importance of a balanced lifestyle.
• Activities: Group discussion on personal health goals and perceptions of healthy living.
Week 2: Nutrition Basics
• Topics Covered: Understanding macronutrients and micronutrients: what they are and why they matter. Creating balanced meals: portion sizes, food groups, and meal planning.
• Activities: Hands-on workshop: preparing a simple, nutritious meal.
Week 3: Physical Activity and Fitness
• Topics Covered: Benefits of regular physical activity: cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. Types of exercise: aerobic, strength training, and flexibility exercises.
• Activities: Group fitness session: exploring different types of exercise.
Week 4: Mental Health and Wellbeing
• Topics Covered: Understanding mental health: common issues and their impact on overall health. Strategies for maintaining mental wellness: mindfulness, stress management, and coping mechanisms.
• Activities: o Guided mindfulness session and discussion on personal mental health strategies.
Week 5: Building Healthy Habits
• Topics Covered: The science of habit formation: how to create and sustain healthy habits. Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for health.
• Activities: o Workshop on developing a personal action plan for habit change.
Week 6: Creating a Supportive Environment
• Topics Covered: The role of community and social support in maintaining healthy lifestyles. Strategies for fostering a supportive environment at home and in the community.
• Activities: Final project presentations: participants share their healthy living plans and how they will involve their community.
Assessment and Evaluation
• Participation: Engaging in discussions and group activities.
• Quizzes: Weekly assessments to reinforce understanding of course content.
• Final Project: Developing and presenting a personal healthy living plan that includes nutritional, physical, and mental health strategies.
By the end of this course, participants will have a holistic understanding of healthy living, equipped with practical strategies to enhance their wellbeing and support a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their communities.
