This course is delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision.

Week 1: Introduction to Knife Crime

• Activities: o Group discussion on personal perceptions of knife crime and its effects.

Week 2: Causes and Motivations Behind Knife Crime
• Topics Covered: o Exploring the socio-economic factors contributing to knife crime. o Understanding motivations: gang culture, fear, and self-defense.
• Activities: o Case studies highlighting real-life scenarios and motivations behind knife crime.

Week 3: Legal Framework and Consequences
• Topics Covered: o Overview of laws related to knife possession and use in the UK. o Understanding the legal consequences of knife crime for individuals and communities.
• Activities: o Discussion on recent legislation and its impact on knife crime rates.

Week 4: Prevention Strategies
• Topics Covered: o Effective prevention strategies: community engagement, education, and intervention programs. o Role of schools, families, and community organisations in prevention.
• Activities: o Workshop on developing community initiatives to address knife crime.

Week 5: Supporting Affected Individuals and Communities
• Topics Covered: o Understanding the emotional and psychological impact of knife crime on victims and communities. o Resources available for support: counseling, hotlines, and community services.
• Activities: o Group activity to create a resource guide for individuals affected by knife crime.

Week 6: Moving Forward: Building a Safer Community

• Activities: o Final project presentations: participants propose actionable plans to raise awareness and prevent knife crime in their communities.
