Bright Outcomes Ltd provides a unique, home-based alternative provision for young people unable to attend school due to EBSA, SEND, or Mental Health difficulties. We focus on academic progress, community inclusion, and employment preparation, with support from qualified teachers and experienced mentors to ensure each student’s progression. Our aim is to be the bridge back to education, not the final destination—equipping students with the academic skills, confidence, and independence they need to return to school and succeed.
This course is delivered in the home to students who are unable to attend on site provision.
Week 1: Introduction to Financial Literacy
• Topics Covered: Defining financial literacy and its importance in everyday life. Understanding key financial concepts: income, expenses, savings, and investments.
• Activities: Group discussion on personal financial goals and challenges.
Week 2: Budgeting Basics
• Topics Covered: Importance of budgeting: tracking income and expenses. Steps for creating a personal budget: fixed vs. variable expenses.
• Activities: Workshop on creating a simple monthly budget using real-life scenario's.
Week 3: Saving Strategies
• Topics Covered: Importance of saving and different types of savings accounts. Strategies for building an emergency fund and setting savings goals.
• Activities: Interactive exercise on calculating how much to save for short-term and long-term goals.
Week 4: Understanding Credit and Debt
• Topics Covered: What is credit? Understanding credit scores and reports. The impact of debt on personal finances and strategies for managing it.
• Activities: Group discussion on personal experiences with credit and debt management.
Week 5: Introduction to Investing
• Topics Covered: Basics of investing: types of investments (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) and their risks. Understanding the importance of diversification and long-term planning.
• Activities: Simulated investment exercise to illustrate the principles of investing and market fluctuations.
Week 6: Planning for the Future
• Topics Covered: Setting financial goals: short-term, medium-term, and long-term objectives. Importance of retirement planning and understanding pensions and retirement accounts.
• Activities: o Creating a personal financial plan that includes budgeting, saving, and investment strategies.
Assessment and Evaluation
• Participation: Engaging in discussions and group activities.
• Quizzes: Weekly assessments to reinforce understanding of course content.
• Final Project: Developing and presenting a comprehensive personal financial plan based on learned concepts.
By the end of this course, participants will have a solid understanding of money management principles and practical skills to make informed financial decisions, empowering them to achieve their financial goals.
