Our mission at Career Seekers Direct is to raise aspirations, develop skills and make valuable connections. Our value statement says we are credible, knowledgeable, personable, supportive and collaborative. skilled and professionally qualified team have had previous roles which include teachers, HR Managers, Career Advisers, Coaches and Youth Workers. We are experienced in working with primary and secondary schools (including SEND) and with Further Education colleges on a wide range of courses including vocational, mental health, wellbeing, and the environment. We have also run Skills & More activity camps in school holidays for primary and secondary age children. Our trainers have vast experience of working with a range of industry sectors including Construction, Art & Design, Utilities, Hospitality & Catering, Games Design, Health & Social Care, Charities, Business Services and Engineering and Manufacturing.

Course Description
Designed specifically for learners who are disengaged from the core curriculum and/or respond better to a more practical way of learning which may enable them to engage more effectively with the core curriculum. It also provides insights into career pathways which may inspire them to dream of what they want to be when they leave school and set themselves goals.

The course builds learners’ confidence and develops personal learning. It is highly inter-active, learner-centred, and ‘hands-on/role play’ with practical activities such as cooking, constructing objects, gardening and music which develop:
Greater self-awareness and appreciation
Techniques to manage their Wellbeing
Improved confidence and self-esteem
Greater resilience
Increased emotional control and emotional intelligence
Techniques to cope with situations they find challenging
Learners regularly reflect on the skills and knowledge they gain. They receive a Career Seekers Direct certificate of participation recognising their achievement. Learners’ development is also assessed as they complete a Wellbeing assessment at the start and end of the course to measure progress.

Monday – Friday. The course is provided on a rolling carousel basis so learners can jump off and on throughout the year to complete the twelve different sessions. Alternatively, the course may be provided for individual schools on their own premises for a small group of learners.
