Allyship is about listening, learning, engaging with and using our privilege and influence to support and advocate for those who have been historically marginalised and excluded. It's taking everyday action to dismantle oppressive systems, address discrimination and actively work to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Allyship requires self-reflection, learning and unlearning.

In June 2024, the Council launched it's first Allyship Group, bringing together colleagues from all service areas who are passionate about being active allies. In the workplace, we can take time to understand and respect the backgrounds and identities of our colleagues. As a starting point, we hope this group will offer a safe space to share experiences, ideas and knowledge through connections with colleagues.
