Coventry Adult Education Service delivers hundreds of courses each year at more than 20 centres across the region. Our aim is to support businesses to develop and grow through the delivery of education and training.

You can access our established training courses or we can develop a programme tailored to our business needs - delivered at your workplace or at our centres.

Book-keeping and payroll

Whatever of the size of business, understanding the principles of book-keeping has a number of benefits such as helping to manage costs and reduce avoidable accountants’ fees by having accurate records.

We offer the opportunity to study manual or computerised accounting, or computerised payroll, depending upon your business’ requirements.

Leadership and Management Skills

Our CMI Team Leader and Management qualifications provide a progressing framework that enables you or your staff to develop and broaden your management skills.

We have accredited courses from Level 2 - 5, to suit aspiring, new or experienced managers.

Good English skills mean staff are better equipped to understand and meet health, safety and hygiene standards, and to communicate with colleagues and customers. With better English skills workers also become more confident in their abilities, more adaptable in their work and errors and waste are reduced. Our City & Guilds accredited courses are delivered by a team of qualified, experienced tutors and build on existing delegate skills.

Health and Social Care

Our comprehensive development programme is constantly evolving to reflect the needs of companies in the area and currently comprises 1, 2 and 3-day courses on specific topics as well as the Care Certificate, Level 1 Award and Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care. These can be a useful addition to your own staff induction or we can design a programme specifically for your business. We also have the Step Into Work programme that trains people ready for their first job in the care sector.

Early Years

Our programs provide qualifications to meet the needs of learners who work, or want to work, with children in a range of settings covering the age range 0-5 years. We offer Level 1 Award in Caring for Children, Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce and Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner.

IT Skills

Whatever the size of your business, it is likely that IT skills are increasingly important, whether browsing the internet, producing customer documentation or keeping records. Our range of 1-day courses cover the main business applications of word processing, spreadsheets, email website, database and powerpoint. Available at introduction, intermediate and advanced levels and all accredited with City & Guilds, we can help your business gain maximum benefit from your investment in IT.

Languages

With increasing international trade, being able to communicate effectively with customers and suppliers is essential. We offer courses in a range of languages including French, German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic for beginners and advanced levels. We also offer an Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL) that can lead to a qualification based programme.

Apprenticeships

Do you want the opportunity to work for an employer, earn an apprenticeship salary, achieve a recognised qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience?

Or are you an employer that has or is considering offering an apprenticeship opportunity within your business?

Adult Education currently offer apprenticeship training from Level 2 to Level 5 in a range of areas including Customer Service, Business Administration, School Business Professional, Early Years, Team Leading, Health & Social Care, Leadership and Management, Teaching Assistant & Teaching Assistant with a PE focus.

Whilst undertaking an apprenticeship you will also be required to develop your existing skills in maths and English, if you do not already have those qualifications, at the appropriate level. Apprenticeships can be for people of any age and must last at least 12 months.
