The CSW Resilience Team encourages schools to be prepared for sudden and unexpected incident or sequences of events that cause trauma within a school community and overwhelms the normal coping mechanisms of that school. It is important to note that incidents might not directly happen within the school environment, however the incident might indirectly affect the school community.
CSW offers a simple yet effective process of managing the risks that schools might face. We guide schools towards the Department for Education (DfE) resources (a suite of documents released in November 2019 to assist schools with planning for emergencies and business continuity issues. Additionally, the CSW Resilience team has developed various resources to complement the DfE resources, as well as having a designated school emergency planning lead. Identifying and putting in place arrangements to mitigate potential disruptions is the responsibility of the school but CSW Resilience can support in providing advice or signposting to guidance. Contact the CSW Resilience Team with any school emergency management-related enquiries.
