EAL Co-ordinators in schools need to effectively track the levels and progress of their pupils learning English as an additional language. They plan actions for the academic year based on this performance data and the school's development plan. They consider how their work can be embedded into school structures and planning through targeted work with classroom teachers, phases or departments. EAL Co-ordinators work in a strategic way, providing training and modelling appropriate intervention for underperforming groups and thereby building the confidence and capacity of mainstream teachers to be able to achieve the best outcomes for their EAL learners.
The EMAS advisory teaching team offer a comprehensive CPD opportunity for those new to the role of EAL Co-ordinator or ongoing support and advice through a Service Level Agreement or bespoke packages.
