It is an expectation that every foster carer participates in 20 hours of learning and development each year. This can be made up through face to face, virtual and online training with the addition of reading and research.
We provide full initial training to new foster carers supporting them through the first year of fostering, this includes support to complete the Training, Support and Development Standards which is a requirement to demonstrate foster carers skills and knowledge.
We provide foster carers the opportunity to access high quality training to enable them to develop their skills and knowledge. We will work with foster carers to devise an ongoing personalised plan of training to meet the needs of the children and young people in their homes, to ensure they provide excellent care.
