Why we collect and hold personal data about you
We use this information to:
- Ensure that Governors and Governing Boards are kept up to date with information about Governance and education
- Monitor and promote equal opportunities in the governance of schools
- Help us to develop and improve our services
- Complete and send reports to Government departments
Who we share information about you with
We will share data with:
- Fellow members of the Governing Board on which a Governor serves,
- Education Entitlement Service within Coventry City Council
- Department for Education (DfE).
How long will we keep your information?
We will only keep your information for as long as we need to, so we can give you the service you need, unless we must keep it for legal reasons. The time can be different depending on the service you have asked for. We will keep information for as long as an individual is a serving Governor
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to your information held by CCC (also known as a Subject Access Request)
- Have any information about you changed if it is wrong
- Have your information deleted
- Restrict processing of information about you
- Data portability (have your data transferred to another Authority)
- Question a decision made by a computer
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office

Complaints
You have the right to submit a complaint if you are unhappy with the way your request is handled or disagree with a decision made by the council regarding your data. In these circumstances you can contact the Data Protection Team (DPO) and request a review of the decision. DPOTeam@coventry.gov.uk
