On Tuesday, 15 October, Coventry HDRC hosted their second Celebration Event at the University of Warwick, Scarman Conference Centre.

The event celebrated the ongoing collaboration between Coventry City Council, University of Warwick, Coventry University, University College London, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, the voluntary sector and local communities. It brought together those who are passionate about tackling health inequalities to improve the health of Coventry residents through the use of research.

Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Institute of Health Equity, University College London, opened and chaired the agenda. As part of the collaboration, we welcomed guest speakers from organisations to share stories about where research has been applied and how meaningful public involvement and listening to the needs of our communities is vital.

Afternoon workshops focused on specific areas: Digital Inclusion, Housing, Economic Development, and Jobs and Skills. The goal was to identify and discuss challenges that impact Coventry residents, share areas of research interest, and develop relationships with a long-term view of potentially applying for funding to undertake research and apply existing research together. This is also known as research impact.

We were pleased to welcome 82 attendees from 23 different organisations and provide a space for networking and future collaboration opportunities.

We have a Celebration Event booklet that shares some of our main highlights and progress over the last two years and looks at what we hope to achieve next.
