Cycling to college or university or can save you money, help the environment and also keep you healthy. It can also help avoid the stress of sitting in traffic and trying to find a car parking space and can often be quicker than going by car or bus.
If you haven't been on your bike for a while, give it a check over or visit your local bike shop for advice. If you don't have a bike, see what your local bike shop or bike recycling project have to offer and get advice on what kind of bike to buy.
Bikes are also available to hire from West Midlands Cycle Hire at docking stations on both University campuses as well across the central Coventry area.
You can choose what to wear and what type of bike to ride. You don't need to change into special clothes for a walk to the shops and it's the same for cycling (unless you want to). A normal rucksack or shoulder bag can be used. Some bikes have a luggage rack on the back for cycle panniers. Mudguards are useful to keep your clothes clean.
Both Coventry and Warwick Universities have lots of cycle parking around campus.
You can plan your cycle route using the online journey planner or take a look at our cycle maps. To help you, the main cycle routes to each college or university are listed below.
