Adult Education in the Job Shop

Please feel free to drop into the Job Shop and talk to our experienced Employment Coaches or refer details directly. 

Digital Functional Skills: Two 2 hour sessions - Thursday 20 June - 1pm until 3pm

The sessions will consist of:

  • How to upload a CV
  • Job searching
  • Tips on basic IT skills

Eligibility:

  • Must have an existing CV
  • Must have very basic IT skills - e.g typing on a computer independently

Why test your digital skills?

Digital skills are important for working, studying, accessing services and buying products, or keeping in touch with friends and family. Take this assessment to learn more about your digital skills, discover what your level is and take the next step to improve them.

Maths and English assessments: Wednesday 19 June 12:30pm until 3pm

Take these assessments to learn more about your Literacy and Numeracy level and take the next step to improve.

  • Receive course suggestions
  • Discover your learning roadmap

Options for courses available can be discussed on completion of the assessment.

AES: Door Supervisor Into Employment Programme

Awareness Session: 8 July 10am until 12:00pm

Gain the knowledge and develop the skills to take the qualification and apply for the licence that is required to work in the security industry.

Learn and gain the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 award in door supervision
  • Emergency first aid at work
  • Health and safety awareness
  • SIA badge in door supervision

Eligibility:

  • Identity –  must have the required ID documents e.g. 1 X current passport, birth certificate or driving licence, 2 X proof of address letter (e.g. utility bill, bank statement etc.) dated within the last 3 months
  • Must have an address history for the last 5 years (if you have lived outside the UK overseas checks may be made)
  • Lived in the UK 3 years or more (or able to provide BRP proof of residence)
  • Pay your council tax to one of the areas listed - Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall
  • Be aged 19 years or over (D.O.B must be on or before 01.09.2004)
  • Not in any other educational setting such as a College, University etc.
  • Have an English Qualification at Level 1 or above (we can undertake an assessment if you do not have qualifications)
  • Registered unemployed with the Job Shop/Centre and in receipt of benefits or on a low wage (under £30,000)
  • Not previously completed a Door Supervisor course that was fully funded
  • If you have previously held an SIA badge, it must of expired over 12 months ago to be eligible for this training
  • Have a Clear Criminal record
  • Have the right to work in the UK

All customers must attend the Awareness/Sign up session to enrol onto the course (depending on meeting all of the eligibility criteria)
