Across Coventry, more and more people are feeling the pressure from the increasing cost of living, which is why Coventry City Council is committed to offering further support to residents in the city.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced an extension to the grant, the Household Support Fund (HSF) until Monday 30 September 2024.

This fund is designed to be used to support households in the most need due to financial hardship, particularly those who may not qualify for other types of government support.

Households can apply for a range of support, including cost of food, fuel, energy bills and related essentials. This includes households who have previously been ineligible following receipt of a cost of living payment.

Grants are based on individual needs, so if a household has specific needs, the Council will consider a range of support that might help.

Laura Waller, Digital Services and Inclusion Lead, said: “The price of energy, food and bills are all rising and many people in the city are worried about finances, so it is vital that there are services in Coventry that can help in these times of need.

“Over the course of the Household Support Fund period, and as the cost of living increasingly impacted on households, the level of demand for support has been increasing, which is why this funding is still so desperately needed in the city”.

“The Council’s priority is to support our residents during these challenging times and support the effort to get essential financial assistance to households as quickly as possible and improve the lives of our Coventry people”.

There is also other support available that residents may be eligible for. Visit the Household Support Fund webpage on the Coventry City Council website to find out exactly what support is on offer.

All applications for support need to be made online. Alternatively, support completing an application can be provided by calling 08085 834333; or visiting the customer service centre at Broadgate House.
