The ‘New Beginnings’ jobs fair will celebrate the work of the Job Shop and introduce Coventry employers to how they can benefit from working together.

Along with the space inside the Job Shop, on Tuesday 17 September, Job Shop staff will takeover the outside space of Smithford Way between 10.30am and 12pm.

The event will allow residents to meet a range of employers across multiple information stalls and enable employers to promote their current and upcoming vacancies.

Employers attending the event include Coventry NHS Service, MITIE Security, Co-op Heart of England, Costco, The Hill Group, plus many more.

There will also be representatives from the Job Shop’s partner organisations such as the National Careers Service, Jobcentre Plus, Prospects, Coventry College and various independent training providers.

Councillor George Duggins, Leader of Coventry City Council who will be at the event said: “The jobs fair provides a fantastic opportunity to connect Coventry young people with the multiple opportunities that will be on offer, to talk to employers directly and to understand how the Job Shop can support them to secure good quality work.

“The Job Shop staff have done a brilliant job in the new shop so far. They are friendly, they are a team, and they regard themselves as a family which is clear to see. I would encourage anyone looking for that next step in their career to attend the jobs fair and see what’s on offer.”

The Job Shop will also be promoting the range of local and regional initiatives available to help young people develop their skills and start their careers.

This event will be the first opportunity for lots of employers to see the new Job Shop as it’s the first public event hosted at the new location, following on from the opening launch event in July 2024.
