Next week, everyone is invited to attend the magical Festival of Christmas event.
On Wednesday 20 November, Coventry city centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland from 4pm – 9pm when a number of dazzling events and attractions and street performers roll into town.
The jam-packed free event combines classic Christmas attractions with new creative performances.
Highlights from the incredible programme include:
- Spark: Don’t miss this crowd-favourite - a band of illuminated drummers who will take over Broadgate.
- Fire juggling and ice sculpting: Catch the daring Flame Oz fire performances and stunning fire and ice shows with Glacial Art at Millennium Place.
- Mesmerising aerialist, festive comedy show and story time with Santa: Head to the Cathedral Ruins for a magical experience including a performance from a Christmas fairy, festive comedy show and an appearance from Santa!
- Living lampposts and time machines: The Precinct Cross will host these enchanting, larger-than-life characters throughout the evening.
- Life-size snow globe: Step into a winter wonderland at Speakers Corner where you can see magical snow globe performances.
Visitors can also look forward to a host of unique roaming acts across other areas of Coventry city centre.
In addition to the Festival of Christmas, the ever-popular big wheel and Christmas market will be returning this year! The market and wheel open on Friday 15 November and once again will bring some Christmas cheer throughout November and December.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council and Cabinet Member for Events, said:
“We’re delighted to be hosting very own free Festival of Christmas this year.
“Christmas is always a special time in the city centre, and we’re really pleased to be expanding the celebration outside of Broadgate to utilise fantastic venues and spaces such as the Cathedral Ruins and Millennium place.
“It’s all part of our wider Christmas celebrations such as late-night shopping, our free parking offer, the big wheel and Christmas market.
“Christmas in Coventry is going to be so special this year. I would encourage everyone to come along to these events and enjoy some festive cheer.”
