Around 60 Coventry families were given festive gifts from staff at Stellantis Coventry, in support of the city’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, visited the Stellantis site in Coventry recently, along with members of the Council’s HAF team, to meet staff, and thank them personally for their support and joined in herself with wrapping the parcels.
Staff at Stellantis supplied and packed over 60 boxes of goodies – including toys and food items – that have now been delivered to children who qualify for HAF but were not able to take part in the activities over Christmas, so they don’t feel they’ve missed out.
Councillor Sandhu said: “I want to say a big thank you again to Stellantis Coventry who have donated items and to their staff for giving up their time to provide presents for children who sadly couldn’t take part in the holiday activities this time.
“Our HAF programme helps support some of our families who are most in need by providing the young person with a meal, as well as a fun and educational activity. There are still many families that qualify for HAF but currently do not take advantage of the programme, so I’d encourage people to check if they are eligible and apply.”
Louise Gardner, Head of Talent, Diversity & Inclusion at Stellantis, said: “Playing an active role in supporting local children and families provides a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the holiday programme and every year all the employees get involved and really enjoy it too.
“Here at Stellantis, we are aware the role we can play in supporting the local community and taking part in activities to hopefully bring some fun and put a smile on people’s faces is a great way to show that support.”
There are still lots of sessions available over the Christmas holidays, including a dance workshop, winter activity camp, parkour sessions and a pantomime trip.
Check to see if you qualify and apply or book on available sessions.
