Introducing parking restrictions

To introduce new parking restrictions, we follow a formal legal process, as a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is required. We publish a notice in the Coventry Telegraph and make a copy of the proposals available for inspection at the Council House. In addition, we put up notices on affected roads, publish the information on our website and usually write to residents and businesses fronting the proposed new restrictions.

There is then a period (minimum 21 days) during which people can let us have their comments about the proposals, letting us know whether they support or object to them. All comments are then considered by the Cabinet Member for City Services, who decides whether a restriction is approved, changed or withdrawn.

Once the process is complete, we make the TRO, publish the parking orders, amendments and plans on our website and arrange for any required road markings and signs to be installed.
