Planning policy consultations

This page holds a list of current consultations on key strategic planning documents drafted and other policy matters currently being consulted upon by the Planning Policy Team such as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) and, when necessary, Local Plan reviews. When documents are published for consultation, they will be listed here along with the time period in which we are accepting responses.

We consulted on the first stage of the review in summer 2023.

We will be consulting again in the Autumn in line with our Local Development Scheme timetable, when we will update this page with information on how to respond

Current consultations

1. Homes in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Development Plan Document (DPD) Main Modifications

This consultation seeks views on the proposed Main Modifications only. It is not an opportunity to raise matters that either were, or could have been, part of the earlier representations or hearing on the submitted DPD. Comments are to focus on whether the proposed Main Modifications comply with legal requirements and are considered sound.

The Consultation period is open for six weeks between 10 June 2024 to 22 July 2024 23:59.

Copies of the consultation material can be viewed at the Council House and all libraries in the city.

2. University of Warwick draft Campus Framework Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The University of Warwick draft Campus Framework Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been prepared by Coventry City Council and Warwick District Council in conjunction with the University of Warwick and Warwickshire County Council to give effect to their local plan policies which guide how the campus should develop. It is a Framework Masterplan setting out a series of capital projects likely to be delivered by 2033 within the context of a longer-term vision to 2050.

The University of Warwick draft Campus Framework Masterplan SPD is now subject to a six week statutory consultation from 24 May 2024 to 05 July 2024 23:59.

Please note: respondents need only comment once on the SPD. They do not need to comment to both Warwick District Council and Coventry City Council. Data will be processed in accordance with our privacy notice.

Statement of Community Involvement

One of the main principles behind the planning system is community involvement. We encourage the public, local organisations, businesses and others with an interest in the area to take part and have a say in different aspects of planning.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the way the Council will involve the local community, stakeholders and statutory bodies in the preparation of new planning policy documents and in consultation on planning applications.
