The proposals

Council House square

For a long time, we have been open and transparent that Coventry City Council - like many other local authorities of all political colours across the country - are facing severe financial challenges.

This includes high inflation and social care costs which have been building for years. As a result, we needed to take a long look at our services and have identified places where we have to make cuts.

Key savings proposals being considered include:

  1. A savings target across senior management posts
  2. Savings across adults’ and children’s social care
  3. Reductions in cleansing services
  4. Reductions in parks services
  5. Charging at the War Memorial Park car park
  6. Removing the Community Support Grant for one year, offset by the extended Household Support Grant
  7. Reducing Council Tax support discount from 80% to 75%
  8. Reducing the number of portacabins set up at elections
  9. Reducing voluntary sector contributions
