Infectious diseases
This 2-hour session can be bespoke to address specific workplace issues, such as Hepatitis B or be generalised to cover a number of common infectious agents.
All courses will cover prevention of infection, universal hygiene precautions such as hand washing and safe disposal of infected materials/substances.
Target group
All employees who may come into contact with body fluids and other potentially infectious material at work
All front-line workers at risk of passing on infection to vulnerable service users.
Course objectives
- Enable staff to develop and utilise safe systems of work to minimise any infection risk.
- Enable staff to develop strategies that will enable them to minimise risks of contracting or passing on infection.

- Coventry City Council Policy and guidance on infectious diseases
- How infectious agents are spread
- Risk assessment and identifying hazards
- Developing safe systems of work
- Preventative action to minimise risks – universal hygiene precautions
- Dealing safely with body fluids
- Disposal of infected waste
