One Coventry Services Consultation Proposal - Relocation of Bell Green Library
What is the proposal?
The proposal is to relocate Library services provided at Bell Green Library (currently located at Riley Square Bell Green, Coventry CV2 1LS) to Park Edge Family Hub Bring together Family Hub and Library services at Park Edge. Bringing services together to deliver them in a more joined-up way. To explore local opportunities for Adult Education provision.
Which services would be impacted?
This proposal will initially include and impact on:
- Bell Green Library Service (and services delivering sessions from this space)
- Adult Education Service
- Park Edge Family Hub
What would the difference be?
Park Edge Family Hub and associated services currently delivered from the Family Hub will continue to be delivered as they are now. The private Nursery will remain on site at Park Edge Family Hub. Services currently provided from Bell Green Library will be relocated to Park Edge Family Hub. It is likely that the space the library would occupy in the proposed new location will have smaller dimensions than the current library provision. In moving location this may mean changes in service provision including:
- Fewer library books available (however a wide range would still be made available)
- Increased use of self-service facilities
- Revised opening hours possibly including a reduction.
Libraries are a statutory service based on the 1964 Public Libraries and Museum Act and this proposal delivers access to a comprehensive and efficient library service.
Adult Education courses currently delivered from Bell Green Library will be relocated to other sites within the local areas, opportunities are still being explored.
